Spain 2023

As part of Erasmus+ staff mobility, we visited the Open University of Catalonia (Universitat Oberta de Catalunya – UOC) in Barcelona, which is the first globally recognized online university. UOC started its work in 1995-1996. per academic year with 200 students, in officially recognized educational psychology and business studies courses in Catalan. Now, studies are also held in Spanish and English, students from all over the world are accepted. Now, about 87,000 students study here. The university offers studies in 28 bachelor’s programs, 53 master’s programs, 8 doctoral programs, as well as various professional and language courses and seminars.
The UOC cooperates with quality assurance agencies around the world to ensure the quality of the study process and the recognition of online degrees. The study process itself is monitored and ensured by 544 employees, of which 185 are full-time researchers. Each study course is supervised and administered by one employee. Students have access to a very extensive online library.
I believe that it would be very valuable to continue cooperation with this university, which would give an opportunity to exchange ideas, share experiences, and as a result, improve the study process and its organization.
