Teacher and staff mobility

ERASMUS+ program with educational mobility opportunities supports and encourages the international mobility of the higher education institution personnel:

– Teaching when lecturers of higher education institutions and their guest speakers from companies go to one of the higher education institutions abroad.

– Personnel training, where the professional development of the staff of higher education institutions is implemented, ensuring participation in training, observation of work in a foreign higher education institution or other appropriate organization.

Objectives of the mobility are:
– to give the opportunity to higher education institution personnel to gain knowledge and specific skills, by learning from the experience of foreign partners and good practice, and how to improve practical skills, needed in the current work and professional development;

– to encourage the higher education institutions to expand and improve the range and content of the offered study courses;

– to encourage exchange of knowledge and pedagogical methods between European higher education institutions;

– to create link between higher education institutions and companies;

– to help developing cooperation between higher education institutions and companies;

– to motivate personnel to get involved in mobility and help to prepare for the mobility period.

Funding:

– Participant of educational mobility shall receive funding for activities from his / her university.

– Individuals may not apply individually for funding.

– Funding is assigned for: accommodation costs; travelling costs;  administrative costs.

Mobility period:

– Minimum duration – 2 days.

– Maximum duration – 2 months (excluding travelling days).

– At least 8 academic lecture hours per week (or shorter period) shall be held during teaching activity.

34 countries participate in the program at the moment: 28 European Union Member States(Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Greece, Croatia, Estonia, Italy, Ireland, Cyprus, Latvia, United Kingdom, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Finland, Spain, Hungary, Germany, Sweden); Member States of the European Economic Area (Iceland, Norway, Liechtenstein and Switzerland participating in the program as a partner country); EU candidate countries (Turkey, North Macedonia).

Alumni Council meeting on June 6

At the meeting of the Alumni Council on June 6, 2023, graduates were discussed about the professional preparation of young specialists who have obtained a diploma of short-cycle professional higher education, competitiveness in the labour market. Together with the college administration, there was an exchange of ideas about the possibilities of providing internships for college students in companies and institutions managed by graduates.

School and study TOP

For the past thirtheen year, the career portal Prakse.lv has been creating a TOP of study programs and educational institutions recommended by employers, which provides school graduates with an insight into where a young person can learn the chosen profession. The purpose of TOPa is to promote a thoughtful choice of further education and career of graduates of elementary schools, secondary schools and professional educational institutions this summer, taking into account the opinion of employers. This year, 2706 employers expressed their opinion, which is 17 times more than in the first year of TOPa creation.

The TOP of schools and studies most recommended by employers is created to provide young people with direct information about the labor market, helping graduates of elementary schools, secondary schools and professional educational institutions to make the right choice of further education this summer, which would result in a successful career.

This year, a record number of companies took part in the creation of TOPa, which indicates the long-term strategy of employers in attracting personnel and the desire to be involved in the career choice of young people, promoting economic development in Latvia.

Riga Technical University received the highest recognition from employers, while the computer science program of the University of Latvia became the most recognized study program.

In TOP, the most evaluated study program is the computer science program of the University of Warsaw. In the first ten are RTU computer science, information technology and construction study program, LU study program – communication science, SSE Riga study program – economy and business, BAT study program – business management, as well as program of the College of Law  – Law.

The college with the highest rating in TOP is Riga Technical College, followed by the College of Law, Riga Construction College, Albert College and the Latvian College of Culture completes the TOP5.

Prakse.lv invites young people to base their choice of educational institutions on a rational approach and to listen to the recommendations of employers, because they are the ones who are able to assess the professional quality of young people trained by educational institutions and their suitability for the labor market. They are the ones who can tell from which educational institutions the best prepared graduates come!

RIMI RIGA MARATHON 2023

This year, a total of 23751 participants from 79 countries of the world had registered for the Rimi Riga Marathon in various distances. Among them, 19 our students crossed the starting line.

BOWLING TOURNAMENT 2023

On April 29, 2023, the activities of the International Science Week ended loudly and emotionally at the bowling tournament in the Pepsi center on 13 lanes.

At the Saeima of the Republic of Latvia

Together with the College of Law students, young people from the Young Lawyers School of the Valmiera State Gymnasium accompanied by lecturer Ruta Mekša in the Saeima got to know the work of our parliamentarians (Riga, 11.05.2023).

In the Supreme Court

Young people of Gulbene secondary school have come to a meeting with Veronika Krūmiņa, the chairperson of the Administrative Affairs Department of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Latvia (Riga, 12.04.2022).

Financial laboratory

The students at the Young Lawyers School of the Valmiera State Gymnasium together with College of Law students, got acquainted with basic financial knowledge and solved budget planning tasks in a fun and interactive atmosphere at the bank (Riga, 14.04.2023).
